Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

  • I am not sure of my level; how do I know which level to enroll in?

Please refer to our class descriptions to determine your level. If you are not sure, an online Korean level test is offered at https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/front/page/participation/onlineLevelTest/main.do. You will be able to get an evaluation result immediately so you can place into the appropriate level. We require that you register for only ONE level. Please DO NOT register for more than one level each semester.

  • Should I register for more than one level if I am not sure?

No. Please do not register for more than one level per semester, as it will create duplicate entries in our system and you will take space away from other students who want to learn Korean. Duplicate entries will be voided. We are happy to switch your level one time if you need to move up or down to a more appropriate level.

  • I've already taken classes at KCCLA and registered in the past. Do I have to register again/every semester?

Yes, we ask that all students register every semester. Previous registrations are not valid for the current term.

  • Do you sell textbooks and materials?

No, we do not sell, keep, lend, or offer any textbooks. Please see our website for info about the required textbooks. We highly recommend you purchase textbooks through an online source such as HanBooks.com or Amazon.com (you can simply copy-paste the ISBN in a web browser), but we do not require it to enroll.

  • I am a foreign student - do you offer any visa or immigration sponsorship/permits?

No, as we are not an accredited institution, so we are unable to sponsor visas.

  • Is there a minimum attendance policy?

No. As long as you are registered, we do not require a minimum attendance to remain in the program, except for the first two weeks when your registration may be dropped for an absence (please see above). But minimum attendance of 75% is required for a Certificate of Completion (please see below)

  • Can I get a certificate or diploma to show I've taken the class?

We are not a degree-issuing institution, so we do not give diplomas. But if you have an attendance rate of 75% or higher, we can issue a Certificate of Completion by email request (A completion certificate issued for completing a class taken remotely cannot be submitted for visa application(F-4 visa etc.).
