Seminar & Roundtable: K-pop Demon Hunters and the Future of K-pop

  • Post DateDec 24, 2025

프로그램 일정 / Program Schedule

On January 16, 2026, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), in collaboration with the World Association for Hallyu Studies (WAHS) and with the support of Jeju Halla University, will host the “Seminar & Roundtable: K-pop Demon Hunters and the Future of K-pop”

Centered on the 2025 breakout title K-pop Demon Hunters, this event aims to explore emerging trends in which K-pop and Hallyu are no longer produced and circulated solely within Korea. Instead, the seminar highlights a new phenomenon in which Hallyu content is created overseas—particularly in the United States—and expands globally through platform-based diffusion. This shift underscores the transformation of K-pop and Hallyu into truly global cultural platforms.

The seminar and roundtable will provide an academic analysis of these developments and foster in-depth discussions on the present and future of K-pop and Hallyu. Scholars and experts in cultural studies, media studies, and global content will participate to share insights and perspectives on the evolving landscape of Korean popular culture.

Featured speakers and discussants include Professor Ingyu Oh (Kansai Gaidai University), Professor Henry Jenkins (University of Southern California), Professor Ikseok Kim (California State University, Los Angeles), Professor Wooyoung Byun (Ohio State University), Professor Andrea Costa (Pitzer College), and Kirsten Crowe (Ph.D. candidate, University of Southern California). We invite all those interested to attend.
